ohio states summer reading

First off, dont get me wrong osu is a great school. However, our summer reading book is a little unecassary. We have to read the language of baklava. The book is about a young girl who grew up in america and in jordan. She is, however, muslim. I think thatif a college is going to give us a summer reading book that is fine, but they gave us a book to teach us cultural diversity. Dont get me wrong studying culturs isnt a bad thing, but this book has nothing to do with my major. I dont even like the muslim culture. In conclusion I don't mind reading but i think it is wrong for anyone to force someone to read a book about a culture they disagree with.
